(the lost Greek writings and its remaining texts in Syriac) Severus Antioch as a model.)
This research aims to explain the relation between Greek and Syriac languages, and to show how far the two languages affected each other’s. As Syriac language reserved the lost tradition all or part of Greek ones. This research has chosen a translation of Hymns of ( Severus Antioch ) to be as a model for the lost Greek writings which Syriac kept its texts. And that enriched the intra studies between the two languages with a clarification the strong ties between them, and that which reflected on what the Syrian translated from the first Greek books into Syriac .
this PHD is about the journey of Mar Yaballaha and Bar Sauma to Palestinian lands then to Rome as a symbol for the Syriac journey’s literature and this text is considered one of the important and rich historical works as it deals with this relation which was prevalent in the middle ages between the Mongol kings who ruled Persia and their Christian nationals during the 13 and 14 centuries , as that period no one was exposed to it from writers ,but the Syriac writers provided us with new and important information about this relations in this period of time , addition to study a new kind of literature as the journey ‘s literature in Syriac . As the Syrians didn’t pay attention to write their journeys in a literary and technically way which we can classify it as an erotic literature belongs to the journey literature.
