Dr. Ibrahim Elhadidi, Ph.D in Architecture

Ibrahim Elhadidi is an accomplished architect, academic, and scholar who possesses over a decade of experience in the realm of higher education, both in Egypt and the UK. Ibrahim's research focuses on the intersection of architecture, cultural heritage studies, sociology, and anthropology.

They received their pre-master training at the Brandenburg Technical University of Cottbus in Germany, specializing in Urban Design in Historical Contexts. As part of a collaborative team of architecture students, Ibrahim contributed to the development of an urban design proposal for the renovation of Potsdam's historical center, which garnered recognition from the jury and was recommended as a candidate for the application to the Schinkelpreis competition at 2012. Elhadidi conducted their Master's studies at Cairo University's Department of Architectural Engineering, in Urban History, focusing on symbolic meanings in the archaeoastronomical qualities of the Giza Pyramids and Plateau.

Elhadidi began their Ph.D. research in Vernacular Architecture studies and heritage preservation in 2017 and received a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom in 2022. During their time there, they gained valuable experience as a researcher and teaching assistant for postgraduate students studying Architecture.

Passionate about interdisciplinary research, Ibrahim's primary focus lies in the areas of social and cultural research, history, and heritage preservation. Their background as an architect equips them with a solid foundation in various visualization techniques, including hand and digital sketching, 3D modeling, and socio-spatial mapping. They actively employ these techniques in their research approach to enhance the accessibility of social and cultural data for fellow researchers, academics, and the general public.

Since 2012, Ibrahim Elhadidi has been a member of the staff at Cairo University's Faculty of Engineering, in the Department of Architecture. Their teaching experience encompasses a range of courses, including architectural design studios, visual skills training, and supervision of final-year students' graduation projects.
