The gold standard therapy for BPH is TURP. Many minimally invasive procedures were introduced, however none of them was able to replace TURP. The holmium:YAG laser seems to offer many advantages, which make it a potential candidate to compete with TURP. This study was planned to study the the incidence and natural history of stress incontinence post holmium laser encleation of the prostate . This study, which was done in Cairo, Egypt, included 40 patients with symptomatic BPH. who had undergone holmium laser encleation of the prostate (HOLEP). The results of this study showed that holmium: YAG laser is efficient in treatment of symptomatatic BPH, stress incontinence is common after HOLEP in the early post operative period but it is transient and self limited in most of cases and positively correlates with increase in PSA and prostate size.
