I held the position of Associate Professor of Ecology and Pollution, College of Science, Cairo University since 2017. Since 2013, I worked as the Director of the Ecology, Biodiversity and Pollution Laboratory. I became the Leader of the Program of BSc in Environmental Science and Technology at Cairo University (2018).
My broad research interest is in ecology, environmental issues, pollution, community ecology and population dynamics and conservation of different organismal groups. I am fascinated by the interplay between organisms and their interactions with the environment.
My PhD research was on the relationship between population overlaps and major environmental variations among different organismal populations.
Formerly, I was a visiting Professor at Hokkaido University, Japan and I worked with Prof. Dr. Koike Takayoushi and Prof. Dr. Shin-Ichi Akimoto on investigating the stress of changing environment (especially Ozone depletion, CO2, Heavy metals/Pesticides Residuals) on biodiversity across Japan and parts of Egypt. I am also interested in the population biology of aquatic and desert biota, the interactions between climate change and pollution and threatened and endangered species. I am passionate about my teaching and supervising the development of research and courses for undergraduate and graduate students in Bsc, Masters and PhD programs related to the fields of Ecology, Environment, Integrated Biodiversity Management (IBM), Pesticides, and Ecosystem.
