Dr. Mohamed Youssef has been graduated from the Department of Town Planning, Faculty of Urban and Regional Planning, Cairo University in 1992, started teaching urban planning in existed and new towns and Rural areas in Egypt since 1994. In 1998, a Master of sciences has been obtained from the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences (ITC), the Netherlands. The degree specialized in utilizing Geographic Information systems (GIS) in Urban Community Planning and Evaluation.
After 1998, Dr. Youssef has been involved in various academic research and professional projects concerning town and country planning in various spatial levels, with government organizations such as the General Organization for Physical Planning (GOPP), Urban Research Centre in Cairo University and Research Centre for Housing and Building Materials. In May 2007 a PhD, degree has been obtained from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom in Future Scenario- Building of Sustainable urban development in Metropolitan areas with application on preparing future scenario building technique for the Greater Cairo urban growth that included the present and future roles of urban development stakeholders.
Since 2007 Dr. Youssef is teaching Urban and Country Planning, Detailed Planning, Action Areas Planning, Land use Planning and Process of urban planning and research methodologies in the Town planning Department, faculty of regional and urban planning Cairo University, Currently on leave vacation from Cairo university since 2013 and Heading the Architecture department in Misr Institute for Engineering and Technology MIT in Mansoura City, Egypt. Dr. Youssef major research areas are sustainable urban planning and design of future communities, smart growth, and teaching architecture and urban design techniques.
