RESEARCH EXPERIENCES

 

Ph. D. Research:

Concerning the problem of predicting the limit strains for stretched sheet metals using void growth models. Analytical techniques have been applied and a yield criterion model is developed to describe the plastic deformation of voided planar isotropic sheet metal.

 

M. Sc. Research:

Concerning the mechanics of deformation of buried flexible pipes. Theoretical model is developed to study the interaction between the buried pipe and the supporting soil. Experimental work (Photoelasticity) is carried out to verify the theoretical model.

 

B.Sc. Project:

Concerning the performing of mechanical tests on different types of pipes used in sanitary systems according ASTM standards. The stiffness factor, the average impact resistance and the bursting pressure are determined. The behavior of these pipes under static and impact loading is studied theoretically and experimentally.

 

R & D Activities & Workshops

 

-          Participated with the solid mechanics group at the mechanical design and production department working in a collaboration project withTennesseeUniversityconcerning “Basic and Applied Studies towards the standardization of Plastic Pipes and Fittings”. Quarter annual reports have published. In addition quality assurance tests of both PVC and PE pipes as products of different Egyptian plastic companies have been carried out in solid mechanics laboratory.

 

-          Participating as one of the instructors in  “Stress Analysis Training Courses” for  Engineers working in Abu-Zaabal Company for Engineering Industries, (July 1999) 

 

-           Participating as one of the instructors in  “ Prevention and Analysis of Mechanical Failures Course” for Engineers working in Gulf Petroleum Company (Gupco), (May 2000)

 

-          Participating as one of the instructors in  “Stress Analysis Training Courses” for  Engineers working in Asik Company, (December 2001)

 

-          Participating as one of the instructors in  “Rolling Theory" for a group of Engineers working in Dekhella Iron Company, (September 2002)
