Professional Experience
• Conduct routine eye examination and tests to patients complaining of visual problems and headaches.
• Prescribe ocular medications for minor conditions and recommend laser or surgery for other eye conditions with severe visual disorders.
• Measure the state of refraction and prescribe corrective lenses.
• Keep abreast with medical developments and trends in the care, diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Arabic.
• Excellent social and interpersonal skills for dealing with colleagues and patients.
• Computer skills needed for documentation of patients’ data.
• Surgical experience in
o Minor lid surgeries e.g. chalazion evacuation.
o Pterygium excision.
o Cataract extraction both extracapsular cataract extraction and phacoemulsification with IOL implantation.
o Treatment of sequels of ocular trauma: lid wounds, rupture globe, traumatic cataract, foreign bodies in the anterior segment, iris lacerations.
o Penetrating keratoplasty.
o Squint surgery.
• Laser procedures:
o YAG laser posterior capsulotomy.
o Argon laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy (focal and panretinal photocoagulation).
• Investigative field:
o Perform ocular ultrasound scan.
o Perform fundus fluorescein angiography.
o Perform ocular biometry (preoperative IOL power calculation).
Research
Main participant in a research on “Evaluation of the Koch-Wang modification of axial length for intraocular lens power calculation in myopia”, Ophthalmology Department, Cairo University, Completed in April 2015.
