Professor Dr. Rehab_CV

Professor Dr. Rehab Abdelhai is Professor of Public Health & Community Medicine and is the Chair of the department (since September, 2022 till the present), at Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. She was prevously the founder & chair of the Community Medicine department at the Armed Forces College of Medicine (AFCM) from 2017 - 2022. In October 2025, Professor Abdelhai was appointed as the Secretary General of the 15th Public Health & Occupational Medicine Promotion Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities. She has also severd as Adjunct Professor at the Arabian Gulf University (from Oct. 2021 to Feb. 2024) supporting the Clinical Research Center and sharing in teaching activities of the Clinical Research diploma program at the AGU.

Professor Abdelhai is an alumnus of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where she obtained an M.Sc. degree in Environmental Epidemiology and Policy in 2003. Her MD degree in Public Health, Preventive & Social Medicine was awarded from Cairo University in 2004.

Professor Abdelhai was previously appointment as the Technical Officer for Communicable Diseases at the World Health Organization - WHO Country office Egypt during the period from 2014 – 2017.

In 2010, Professor Abdelhai attended the Middle East Ethics Training Initiative (MERETI) Program and became a certified trainer of research ethics and a visiting faculty member of the NIH MERETI Program - University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA in 2014. In 2020, Dr. Abdelhai was appointed member of the National Research Ethics Committee based in Ministry of Health & Population and is considered one of the prominent trainers for bioethics, and human subjects’ protection.

She has more than fifteen years of diverse experience specializing in working with governments, multilateral organizations, NGOs and local communities to achieve sustainable positive outcomes for health in challenging environments. Dr. Abdelhai has recently taken special interest in higher education, especially medical education.
