Abdelmaged earned his B. Sc. in mechanical power engineering from Cairo University with a distinction degree and honors in 1993. He obtained his MSc. in experimental combustion from the same university, and then earned his PhD from the University of Notre Dame, USA in 2004. He then worked as a research associate in Notre Dame for two years before joining the mechanical power department in Cairo University as an assistant professor where he taught several courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Later, he joined the thermoacoustic research team as a research postdoctoral scholar at the AUC where he worked with the team to build and test prototypes for thermoacoustic devices. Abdelmaged has large cumulative experience in designing, building, operating and testing experimental setups and prototypes in different areas including Acoustics, thermoacoustic electric generators, engines and refrigerators, particle-image velocimetry, continuous combustion, oxy-fuel combustion, oscillating flows, particle dynamics, ANOVA analysis, aerosol science, plasma and natural ventilation methods.
