تهدف الدراسة إلى رصد وتحليل وضع المواد السمعية والبصرية في المكتبات الأكاديمية بالقاهرة الكبرى من حيث التنظيم الاداري ، والتزويد ، والفهرسة والتصنيف ، والحفظ والصيانة،والخدمة المكتبية . وقد اعتمدت في إجراء الدراسة على المنهج المسحي مع اعداد قائمة مراجعة كأداة في جمع البيانات .وقد خرجت الدراسة بتائج عديدة من أبزها ان نسبة اقتناء المواد السمعية والبصرية في المكتبا الأكاديمية محل البحث قد بلغت 26.5% .كما تعاني المكتبات الاكاديمية فيما يختص بمقتياتها من تلك المواد من أوجة قصور عديدة تتمثلت في الإعداد البليوجرافي لها والخدمات المكتبية
